Hi Friends! So as Easter very quickly approaches, we have been thinking about how to really communicate the reason for Easter to our girls....especially the toddler (almost 3?!). Somehow, to me, it seems that Jesus is just as much or more so removed from Easter than He is from Christmas. So, just wondering...do any of you out there have any great ideas, books, materials, etc. that you have heard of or used? Please write me a comment or email if you do. I would love to hear from you!
We are excited to celebrate Jesus' resurrection around here. And thankful that my sister and her fam will be here to celebrate too!
Also, here are some Easter/Spring pictures we had taken (complimentary!) from our friend Natasha at Natasha Leigh Photography. She really does a great job!

you and your girls are so lovely, Leah! :) I can't believe how big Faith is. No great suggestions for Easter, sadly.
Oh, and LOVE the new blog name!! :)
Leah! Lovely to hear of your life with little ones....I led children and worship this past Sunday, and you're right- it can be difficult telling the passion story in kid language....I was amazed at some of the great questions the kids had, and equally amazed at some of my inadequate responses they accepted. :) I'm sure you will do great just answering all of Faith's questions...that's the best we can do! Love to you and the family!
I struggle with this too and totally agree that there is SO much hype surrounding the Easter bunny and doing Easter egg hunts, that the focus gets taken off of Jesus' resurrection being the reason we celebrate Easter! We do have a couple of Easter board books that we read with Parker, "The Easter Story" by Patricia A. Pingry, and "What is Easter?" by Michelle Medlock Adams. We also have a Veggie Tales called "An Easter Carol", although I feel like it only briefly, (and rather vaguely), discusses Jesus' resurrection and there is a lot about Mr. Nezzer's chocolate factory and them making chocolate bunnies for Easter. The moral is correct, but I didn't feel like there was enough focus on the true reason for Easter. My parents are getting Parker a new Veggie Tales Easter DVD, (I think it's called "Once Upon an Easter" or something like that. I haven't seen it yet because he won't be getting it until Easter this year. I'm hoping it's better than the Easter Veggie Tales we already have. Good luck and let me know what suggestions others have! :)
Thanks for the ideas and encouragement, friends :) It's fun to start family traditions and really think about how we can teach our kiddos. we did Easter baskets, lots of talk about the resurrection....in 3 year old language, of course :) ... family dinner, egg hunt, and church today. it was a great Easter weekend! :)
