Super Cute

We made a quick trip back to Iowa this weekend to visit family. My mom won an award through Alegent Health called the Spirit of Mission award. Although we couldn't make it to the ceremony on Friday afternoon, we surprised her by getting there Friday night. It was so good to have all the family together...and Uncle Dan got to hang out too...even better! Faith did a great job on the drive there and back. She had a couple crying spells, but for the most part it was a good ride. The only thing about the trip we were disappointed about is that we didn't have time to see everyone we would have liked to. But, unfortunately that's the way it goes sometimes. Hopefully next time we will get the chance to catch up with more people.

As you can see, the pictures are of Faith and the fam. Our "super cute" title comes from her super cute outfit. It was a gift from Sarah and DJ Hall, and it got rave reviews! She's almost outgrown it though, so I'm glad we put it on her. As you can see, it had a cape attached to the back. My mom thought it was pretty hilarious, and so did we. Then we have Faith with her great-grandma Smith, Faith with Uncle Dan, and Faith with her cousin, Reagan. Reagan is a ball of energy...and she's so cute. We're excited for when she and Faith can play together...and we're hoping Faith doesn't grow too fast so that she can keep wearing Reagan's clothes! :)

Today has been pretty laid back, and we're getting back into our "normal routine." But, it is a special day. Nate and I have been married for 1 year today! Wow has the time gone fast....it has been an eventful year! :) We're going out to see a movie tonight and some friends have graciously volunteered to watch Faith. Pray she has a good night for them :) Enjoy the pics!

Tennis Anyone?

Faith's outfit yesterday was a cute yellow Tommy tennis dress. I had a Dr. apt. with our OB, who delivered Faith. Since we were on that side of town, we then went to my former workplace (I just resigned last week). Everyone commented on the dress and she hammed it up pretty well (Thanks for your excellent taste KK:) ) It was a good day. So, of course, we had to post some pics so you all could enjoy the dress too.

Other pic is of her bath the other night. We're getting into a routine where we give her the Levsin drops in the late afternoon, a bath at 7:00, then the drops again as they can only be given every 4 hrs. The past couple of nights have been an improvement. We're not sure if it's the drops/routine, or she's just having a good couple of nights. Also, there is apparently a growth spurt at 6 wks, so we naturally attribute everything to the growth spurt. Fussy? Must be the growth spurt. Sleep alot today? Growth spurt. Hungry more often? Has to be the growth spurt. Well, if it is a growth spurt, it's the longest one in history!

We have an exciting wkend planned, but we can't say alot now as it's sort of a surprise. We'll post pics next week though :)

Well, as you have probably caught on, Faith is a colicky baby. It usually starts in the evenings around 6:00

and ends somewhere around 10:00. We're getting use to it, so it's not as bad as it was at the beginning.....and some nights are worse than others. This particular night...Monday...was long. We thought we'd capture Faith in one of her favorite holds. It works sometimes...and this night it did!

We visited Nate in his school today and had Arby's for lunch. Faith did great on the drive...and we even went through the drive-through. Nate's teaching summer school in a third grade classroom. The innocent kids have not idea that our daughter's dirty diaper was changed on one of their desks :) The next picture is Faith being pretty alert. She's propped up on a pillow so that she can look around better. She seems to get restless and just wants to be left alone sometimes, so Grandma Van Eaton gave us this idea...and sometimes she really enjoys it.
Then, we we have another pic of Mon. night. We just think it's funny. She looks just about as thrilled as we were, and her cheeks are amazingly huge! But, we were both chunks when we were little too, so it's be be expected :)

Almost off the charts...

Well, today we had Faith's 6 week check up. Faith is quite the healthy baby....which you can probably tell from the pictures :) Faith is 22.25 in long putting her in the 75-90%. Her head circumference is 39.75 cm putting her at the 75-90%....and the kicker....her weight is 12 lbs. 9 oz putting her above the 95th percentile. Needless to say, we get a workout carrying her around. We also talked to the dr about Faith's colic and apparently there is a prescription drop that we can get for her if it continues. After tonight...we're thinking the drops are sounding good :)

This past weekend Grandma Van Eaton came to visit. It was such a blessing to have her here. It was especially nice as she watched Faith Friday and Saturday evening so that we could go out and have some alone time. We enjoyed some good Indian food, ice cream and uninterupted conversation. Thanks Grams!

Well, enjoy the new pics...Faith is smiling now to our voices (or so we would like to think :) ). It's pretty adorable and makes the stressful nights absolutely worth it. So, we've got a cute pic of her smiling....then we also have Nate with the magic touch tonight as he calmed her down. Enjoy!

Here we go!

Well, here we go! Taking after some of our wise friends, we've decided to start a blog! Now that Faith has made her grand entry, we are especially missing family and friends. Our hope is that this blog will help us stay connected with everyone better...and keep you all updated on Faith as she grows. Faith is about 5 and a half weeks. She's growing so fast, and she's a hand full :) She already has a personality and a wild streak. We're learning as we go, and we're going try to keep you all updated regularly. So, here's some pictures to enjoy :)

These first pictures are of Faith's first bath. She actually liked it pretty well until we had to take her out of the water b/c she got a little chilly.

Here Nate is reading to Faith. We're convinced that she will enjoy reading :)

And then we have Faith looking pretty in her Sunday dress....this picture was taken right before she peed on it :) Well, we love you all and more to come!
